Duo Reflet was born under the impulse of Romain Cadot, classical guitarist and composer, who wanted to reconnect with his teenager passion of electrical guitar, popular instrument by excellence but not really in esteem on the classical music scene.
He naturally contacted Timothy Van Ceulebroeck to offer him to accompany him in this project, which he immediately accepted.
Created in 2022, the goal of this novel duo is to present the electrical guitar as an instrument worthy of featuring on the list of classical instruments.
In this case it is accompanied by its older brother: the classical guitar.
The tackled repertoire are the masterworks of classical chamber music. Those can be originally written with a classical guitar part, or arranged.
The soloist part, from flute or voice to string instruments, is then played by the electrical guitar.
This eclectic formula gives us the opportunity to explore different musical styles and periods in order to prove the versatility of this instrument combination. In this search, masterworks of the past are a major source of inspiration: the public knows those, but not in this context, not from this angle. This insufflates freshness into those pieces and enriches their interpretation.
This new project has two main goals: share the beauty of these pieces of classical music with an audience as varied and large as possible, and represent the range of colors and possibilities the guitar has to offer. You will not encounter frenzy solos, effect pedals or distortion, but a specific timbre, refreshing a repertoire which the audience knows, sometimes even too well, in it's original form.
An accessible and innovative proposal which will appeal to both the initiated public and novices.
